Makers of the Future challenges the current mode of production and distribution. Offers insights into the problems in society today, and gives hints as to where the solutions will be, and the role of citizens as creators of our future society.

We have a RepRap coming to FSCONS this year! A RepRap is a "low cost open source rapid prototyping system that is capable of producing its own parts and can therefore be replicated easily" (RepRap) -- essentially, a 3D printer that can build its own parts.



Makers coming together

The Makers of the Future theme is coming along nicely for FSCONS. The theme is intended to gather speakers who question the current modes of production and distribution in society. To offer a critical view on how things are being done today, but also, perhaps as importantly, what should be done instead. Last year, Karin Kosina vka kyrah spoke about Hackerspaces, where consumers are turned into creators. She'll be joining us this year as well.
