In the YAPC conference 2012, Michael G Schwern held a keynote speech on "how good, but homogenous, people can create an unwelcoming community without realizing it". Serengeti invites to a seminar, where we watch that keynote speech together and discus its implications.
The seminar is divided into two sessions, which can be attended separately.
Michael G Schwern writes about the speech: "This is my 'secret' diversity talk aimed at the guys and focusing on how good, but homogenous, people can create an unwelcoming community without realizing it. The solution lies in restructuring how we make decisions, it lies in Kirk vs Picard. And anybody can be a Picard."
